How do the DSWQ/DSWQA/DSF differ from a standard clean-water centrifugal pump?
Submersible sewage pumps use a double-channel (vortex) or semi-open impeller with a wider flow passage, letting solids and debris pass through without clogging — unlike the enclosed impellers of standard clean-water centrifugal pumps, which jam easily on sludge or rags. In addition, the entire motor is sealed and submerged directly in the tank instead of being mounted dry above ground.
How do DSWQ, DSWQA and DSF differ from each other?
DSWQ is the standard line for general drainage, fountains/waterfalls, agriculture and building drainage — flow up to 4,200 m³/h, head up to 80 m. DSF is dedicated to solids-laden wastewater/septic tanks/factory wastewater, flow up to 600 m³/h, head up to 55 m, with ceramic/carbide wear-resistant sleeve bushings. DSWQA (per EPSSO's technical profile) is a higher-head, energy-saving variant with a semi-open impeller and double mechanical seal — suited to lift stations needing to pump wastewater further or higher.
What should I watch for when installing and maintaining a Dooch submersible sewage pump?
Fit a float switch to automatically start/stop based on water level and prevent dry-running. Use an auto-coupling base so the pump can be pulled for maintenance without disconnecting the piping. Periodically check the oil in the intermediate seal chamber to catch leaks early, clear the impeller of rags/debris, and re-tighten the cable entry gland to preserve the water-ingress protection.
What water-ingress protection does the Dooch submersible sewage pump have?
