Tính theo hệ thống PCCC (số đầu sprinkler/họng nước, chiều cao công trình và áp yêu cầu tại điểm bất lợi). Cao tầng cần cột áp cao hơn.

Chọn kiểu bơm & tổ hợp động cơ
Trục ngang cho lưu lượng lớn; hút cuối cho hệ nhỏ–vừa; trục đứng khi hút từ bể ngầm. Bố trí bơm điện chính + bơm diesel dự phòng + bơm bù áp (jockey) theo NFPA 20.

A fire-fighting pump supplies pressurized water to sprinkler systems and fire hydrants. A standard fire pump set comprises a main pump (electric or diesel driver), a jockey pump to maintain pipeline pressure, and a control panel, all operating to the NFPA 20 duty curve.
Electric pumps have lower cost and simple maintenance but depend on grid power; diesel pumps operate independently during grid failures. A fire system per NFPA 20 typically combines an electric main pump and a diesel backup pump, along with a jockey pump.
UL Listed and FM Approved are international certifications for fire protection equipment; NFPA 20 is the installation standard for fire pumps. Projects to international standards require UL/FM/NFPA 20; projects under Vietnamese regulations apply TCVN fire protection codes. Requirements depend on the authority having jurisdiction for the project.
A jockey pump maintains stable pressure in the fire pipeline when no fire event is active, compensating for minor leaks so the main pump does not start unnecessarily. When a fire occurs and pressure drops significantly, the main pump activates.
Three common types: horizontal split-case for high flow rates; end-suction for small to medium systems; and vertical turbine when drawing water from underground tanks or wells. Selection depends on flow rate, head and water source layout.
Flow rate and head are calculated based on the fire protection system: the number of simultaneously active sprinkler heads / fire hydrants, building height and required pressure at the most unfavorable point. Common ratings up to ~5,000 GPM (~1,136 m³/h); TKT engineers provide calculation support based on system drawings.
