Diaphragm Pump Compressed Air
AODD Pump
Self-priming, dry-run safe — no electricity required
Pneumatic Diaphragm Pump (AODD) is a positive displacement pump driven by compressed air, using two alternating diaphragms to pump without an electric motor — self-priming and dry-run safe. Handles corrosive chemicals, viscous fluids and particle-laden liquids, including ATEX explosion-proof zones. Authorized distribution Sandpiper (Mỹ) & Finish Thompson.
Operation by compressed air
Alternating compressed air
Central air valve alternately drives two diaphragms via a common shaft — no electric motor, no spark.
Dual diaphragms + 4 ball valves
Symmetric suction–discharge chambers, 4 check ball valves direct flow. Self-priming & dry-run safe, without damage.

Diaphragm pump selection theo bộ ba
No single diaphragm pump configuration fits all fluids. Select by the trio: fluid × wetted materials (body + diaphragm/ball) × port size & flow rate. The decision chart and two tables below quickly map real-world requirements to the right configuration.
| Requirement / fluid | Recommended configuration | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Corrosive chemicals (acid, alkali, solvents) | PP/PVDF body · PTFE diaphragm | Match materials to chemical — see table below |
| Viscous / shear-sensitive fluids (paint, adhesive, ink) | Santoprene/Neoprene diaphragm · ball valve | Gentle pumping, low shear, no separation |
| Particle-laden / slurry / sludge | Cổng lớn 1.5"–3" · van bi | Ball valves allow particles through; dry-run safe |
| Explosive atmosphere (solvents, fuel) | ATEX configuration · earthing | Air-operated, spark-free — ATEX/IECEx |
| Food & beverage | Hygienic line · 316SS · FDA diaphragm | CIP, phụ gia, sản phẩm dạng sệt |
| Drum & IBC extraction | Portable configuration, self-priming | Chemical transfer from drum/IBC |
| Fluid / chemical | PTFE | Santoprene | Buna-N | EPDM | Viton |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dilute acid / alkali | A | A | C | A | B |
| Concentrated acid / oxidizing | A | B | D | C | B |
| Aromatic solvents (toluene/xylene) | A | C | C | D | A |
| Ceton (acetone/MEK) | A | C | D | A | D |
| Oil / fuel | A | C | A | D | A |
| Abrasive / solid particles | C | A | B | B | B |
Compatibility notes: EPDM resists most acids/alkalis but not aromatic solvents or oils; Viton resists solvents but not ketones/alkalis; Buna-N suits oils but not ketones/strong acids; PTFE inert to most chemicals but less flexible — preferred when compatibility is uncertain. AODD diaphragm pump or centrifugal pump?
Two technologies commonly considered for corrosive or particle-laden fluids. Quick comparison by operating characteristics — dry run, self-priming, sealing, flow rate, explosive atmosphere — to confirm the right technology for your application.

Questions frequently asked
Compressed air is alternately directed by a central spool valve into two chambers, pushing two diaphragms connected on a common shaft. When one diaphragm discharges, the other draws — four check ball valves direct fluid from the suction port to the discharge port. No electricity is required at all.
Yes. AODD pumps self-prime reliably and run dry without damage — a significant advantage over centrifugal pumps. Suitable when feed supply is intermittent or complete sump drainage is required.
Aluminum body for solvents/oils; SS316 for food-grade and chemicals; PP/PVDF for acids/alkalis. PTFE diaphragm for broad chemical resistance; Santoprene/EPDM for high flex endurance. Submit your fluid details for a material recommendation.
Yes. Because it runs on compressed air, it generates no electrical sparks; many models carry ATEX certification for hazardous zones. Proper grounding is required when pumping solvents.
Maximum discharge pressure is approximately equal to supply air pressure at a 1:1 ratio (typically up to ~8.6 bar). Flow rate varies by port size — from a few tens of l/min (1/4"–1" port) to approximately 1.040 l/min (3" port), with solids pass-through up to ~12.7 mm. See the pump model table for model-specific figures.
The pump operates on compressed air at ~7 bar; air consumption (Nm³/min) increases with pump size and flow rate. Calculate the model's air consumption first, then select a compressor with sufficient capacity and flow — undersizing will reduce pump output. TKT advises on pump size + compressor selection upon receiving your specifications.
Diaphragms (Santoprene, PTFE), ball valves, valve seats and air valve assemblies are wear items requiring periodic replacement. TKT supplies genuine spare parts by pump model code for Sandpiper and Finish Thompson — see the spare parts inventory at /phu-tung-bom-cong-nghiep/ or send the pump code from the nameplate.
Four factors: port size (1/2" to 3" — determines flow capacity), body material (aluminum < SS316 / PP < PVDF), diaphragm material (Santoprene < PTFE) and ATEX option. Submit your fluid type + required flow rate to receive a quotation within 24 h — call 0941.400.488.
